Reason number 1 why people keep stuff they don't need

Updated: Jun 20

"But I might need this one day"

I was the Queen of Just-in-Case. Did you know that?

I am a natural at organizing, always have been. Ask my sister, we used to share a room.

But do you know what I was NOT a natural at?

Letting go of things. I just didn't get the memo on this one.

I would keep EVERYTHING, I thought might maybe eventually be useful.

From every single bubble wrap to the caps of my empty night creams because “I might need it to store tiny things”.

The stuff in your home clutters your mental space too.

The problem is, when you keep stuff, then you have to store these stuffs.

When you keep a lot of stuff, then you have to sacrifice a BIG part of your environment.

And, all these items are not only cluttering your physical space, but they are also taking up mental space.

Let me give you an example.

You know, those clothes you keep in case you lose weight?

Well, seeing them in your closet every day, is just a reminder that you haven’t lost the weight you think you need to lose.

Not a very joyful thought to have every day...

Now, imagine if every one of these just-in-case items and the way they make you feel was a stone you have to carry around. Would be pretty exhausting, wouldn’t it?

Declutter your home. Declutter your head.

Your home and your head should not be the warehouse of your ifs.

Remember, only a few things are truly irreplaceable.

The joy that comes from a peaceful home is worth far more than the cost of someday having to replace an item you tossed out, if one of these “ifs” scenarios does happen. I promise you.

So, tell me, how much of your home is occupied by just-in-case items?

Would love to hear from you.

Until next time,

Nazanine
